The Fox C-6 Parents as Teachers and the Arnold Branch of the Jefferson County Library are teaming up again to provide an opportunity for parents to learn about area preschool options, all in one place and at one time.
The two entities will hold a Preschool Fair from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Admission is free.
“Rather than calling up or driving from school to school, parents (who attend the fair) are able to meet with teachers and administration of different schools,” said Amy Held, the youth services librarian at the Arnold Branch. “Sometimes, it can be hard to find all of the different schools when you are searching on your own. I think it is a great service, especially for parents who cannot visit schools during the school day.”
Held said this will be the second year for the library and Parents as Teachers to work together to put on the event. She said the library started holding preschool fairs in 2013.
Last year, representatives from seven preschools in Jefferson and St. Louis counties were at the fair, Held said, adding that as many as 12 schools were represented at past fairs.
Held said about 100 people attended last year’s fair, which was held at the Service Center for the first time.
She said representatives from the preschools will provide parents with information about curriculum, class sizes and tuition. Parents typically have a chance to get to know some of the teachers during the fair.
“It is a great opportunity for parents to meet with so many different schools at one time,” Held said. “It helps (parents) narrow down the field a little bit before they investigate further.”
