The Arnold Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual trunk-or-treat event from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in the Fox Elementary School parking lot, 739 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold.

As of Oct. 13, about 30 spots had been reserved for participants to hand out treats at the event, chamber executive director Stephanie Engle said.

In addition, the Arnold Police Department, Rock Community Fire Protection District and Rock Township Ambulance District will hand out treats and have department vehicles to explore during the event, she said.

The event is free to attend. However, the chamber encourages those who attend to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the Arnold Food Pantry.

“I’m super excited,” Engle said. “I like anything that is family oriented.”

This will be the third time the chamber has held the event in the fenced-in lot next to the elementary school. The first trunk-or-treat event was held there in 2019, and it returned to the lot last year.

Prior to 2019, the chamber had held its Trunk or Treat at Arnold City Park for one year and before that it took place in the Lowe’s parking lot in Arnold.

“It is in a very well controlled area in the school’s parking lot,” Engle said. “It is a safe, large area. We will have 30-plus people handing out treats. It will be awesome.”

The chamber is still accepting applications for spots to distribute candy at the event. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, Oct. 20. To sign up email director@arnoldchamber.org or call 636-296-1910.

Along with collecting candy, a DJ will play music, Engle said.

Businesses also compete for a trophy awarded to the best decorated spot.

“We have a pumpkin trophy to hand out to the No. 1 trunker,” Engle said. “Brad Cary of Unrivaled Realty has won the trophy the last two times (in 2019 and 2021), and I think somebody is hoping to take it over from him.”
