south county senior expo promo

The Leader’s first-ever South County Senior Expo is set for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 1, at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 6050 Wells Road, in St. Louis County and will feature free coffee and doughnuts, bingo, prizes, guest speakers, live music and other entertainment.

It’s not too late for area seniors to send in pictures for the Leader’s Way Back When photo contest.

The contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for seniors, is open to all Jefferson County, Eureka and Wildwood-area readers who are 50 and older. Photos must be at least 25 years old, from 1999 or earlier, and can feature people, places or events.

Winners will be drawn at random from the entries to win a cash prize – $100 for the first name drawn, $75 for the second and $50 for the third.

There is a limit of two entries per person.

Way Back When photo contest entries should include the following information:

■ Entrant’s name, age, address and phone number. (Entries missing this information will not be considered for prizes.)

■ The date and place the photo was taken and by whom.

■ The names of any people in the photo.

■ Any other information about the photo that explains why it is memorable.

Entries may be mailed to Leader, P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; dropped off at the Leader office, 503 N. Second St., in Festus; or emailed to news@leaderpublications.biz.

Photos will be returned if a self-addressed stamped envelope is included.

The deadline to submit a photo in the contest is 5 p.m. Thursday, April 11.

Winning photos and as many entries as space allows will be published in the April 25 Grand Times, which will be inserted inside that week’s paper.

That Grand Times also will include more information about the Leader’s first-ever South County Senior Expo, which is held in conjunction with the contest.

Spaces are still up for grabs for the expo, set for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 1, at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 6050 Wells Road, in St. Louis County.

The expo will be similar to its Jefferson County and Eureka counterparts, which are lively events catered to area seniors and feature free coffee and doughnuts, bingo, prizes, guest speakers, live music and other entertainment.

Businesses and individuals who have a product or service of interest to those 50 and older are encouraged to call the Leader to reserve a booth.

Prospective vendors should call the Leader office at 636-931-7560 or email news@leaderpublications.biz.

More information and videos from past expos can be found at myleaderpaper.com/seniorexpo.

Contest entries not published in the Grand Times will be posted to the Leader website, myleaderpaper.com.
