Elaine Brooks of Cedar Hill said her black pug puppy Lucky has been a comfort to her since her husband, Fred, died in November. Lucky is about 10 months old.
“Our last dog died and Fred said he didn’t want another one,” Brooks said. “I said we should look. We fell in love and came home with a little 8-week-old puppy.”
Brooks said she’s thankful for the puppy’s companionship.
“Last summer, my husband became ill,” she said. “He passed away in November.
“I’ve never been closer to a dog before. My husband was the dog lover. I’ve fallen in love with Lucky.”
Lucky is playful, which helps Brooks stay active.
“He’s very energetic,” she said. “He wants to play. He wants to walk every day.”
Brooks said she is happy with her Lucky.
“He’s been a blessing,” she said.
