COVID testing

The COVID-19 testing site at the Hillsboro Community Civic Center has shut down due to low testing demand.

Brianne Zwiener, Jefferson County Health Department public communications officer, said the site was open Jan. 26, when 192 people got tested, and Feb. 9, when 13 people were tested.

When the testing site opened Jan. 26 at 10349 Business 21, it was expected to be open every Wednesday through Feb. 23. Zwiener said the site was not open Feb. 2 due to snow and ice.

The testing site was run by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

“If testing demand picks up again, then they may re-evaluate, but as of now the testing site is no longer available,” Brianne said in an email.

As of today (Feb. 14), a total of 52,123 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic. The county also has seen a total of 462 COVID-19-related deaths.
