Tink’s Barkery & Pawtique, a new business in De Soto, sells a variety of pet treats and toys and other items you need to spoil your cats and dogs.
Kris Haus of Hillsboro opened the pet boutique on Nov. 2 at 508 N. Main St. behind U Dirty Dog Groomer.
Haus said she is passionate about animals and has several dogs and cats and a bird. When she saw the space was for rent, she immediately thought it would be a good spot for a pet store.
“I told my husband about it, and he was looking at me like I was nuts,” she said. “He said, ‘Whatever you do, I’ll support you.’ And then I roped people in that will help me because I work full time. I definitely had to have someone to man the store.”
Haus said they have cat toys and trees, dog crates and beds, bowties, blankets, rugs, leashes, clothes, collars, ornaments, jerky, chews and baked treats.
“We have some other vendor items coming in,” she said, adding she hopes to start selling more pet food.
Haus said the store offers a good variety of items and her inventory will change.
“It’s more a boutique,” she said. “You’re going to find a lot more unique things. Not a million multiples of everything.”
Treats have been the most popular purchase at the store, Haus said.
“People love to spoil their dogs,” she said, adding that animals are allowed in the store on a leash.
Haus said she hopes to hold events, like pet adoption days.
“We have already done a paint night,” Haus said.
The store is open form 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
