The new Singers Ice Cream location, 2478 Taylor Road near the Dierbergs Market at Wildwood Town Center, will open in mid-March or early April, a co-owner said.

Singers Ice Cream, known for serving up a wide variety of homemade ice cream flavors, as well as karaoke, will move from House Springs to Wildwood next year.

Micah Turnbough, who co-owns the shop with his wife, Courtney, and his parents, Bruce and Cinda, said the lease at their current location, 22 Gravois Station Road, is up at the end of February, so the family decided to take the business to Wildwood, closer to where they live.

The new location, 2478 Taylor Road near the Dierbergs Market at Wildwood Town Center, will open in mid-March or early April, Turnbough said.

Last October, the future of Singers was less certain, he said.

In a statement the Turnboughs posted on social media, the family told customers about their lease ending soon and said they “had no plans to continue” but were keeping their options open.

“As a family, we will continue discussing ways to keep Singers alive, and we hope for your continued support in this journey,” the statement continued. “We desire to say, ‘See you later’ instead of ‘goodbye.’”

The new Singers shop will open in the space that previously housed Main Street Creamery, an ice cream shop that has a location in Washington.

Turnbough said he’s excited about moving into the new location, which is a 10-minute drive from his home.

“It’s definitely all positive,” he said. “We found this new location at the right time. Because it was an ice cream shop, it helped us save probably a good $80,000-$100,000 in work or effort that we couldn’t do.”

The family first opened Singers in 2022, Turnbough said, and quickly gained the community’s support.

He said all the ice cream flavors are handcrafted and change on a regular basis.

The shop also provides opportunities for customers to perform karaoke or listen to the Turnboughs themselves take a turn on the mic.

“My dad’s kind of the mascot,” Turnbough said. “He’s the fun-loving guy who runs karaoke for people, and he sings songs and is always a joy to talk to. Truly, we become family with people who come to our shop.”

Turnbough said the shop’s karaoke is a big hit, especially among families with young children. It’s especially heartwarming, Turnbough said, when a child’s parent joins in on the karaoke fun.

“People love it, and it’s really special when you see a little girl and she says, ‘Hey, I want to sing a song,’ and then asks her mom to come up and sing,” he said. “It’s just fun. The music has always been fun.”

Turnbough said that the same family fun will be featured at the new Singers location, which also will continue to specialize in homemade ice cream. The shop may add some new offerings, such as shakes, though.

The shop’s bestselling flavor is Granny’s Banana Pudding, which is named after his mother, Cinda Turnbough. She invented the recipe that is made with real bananas, not artificial flavors, Micah Turnbough said.

“People lose their minds when we don’t have (Granny’s Banana Pudding) in stock,” he said. “We prioritize flavor in the sense that we want it to taste as good as it possibly can. If (the ice cream) doesn’t knock your socks off with flavor, then we make it again in a different way.”

To show gratitude to their customers, Turnbough said a special Valentine’s-themed party is in the works for February. More details will be available in the coming months on the Singers Ice Cream Facebook page.

“Without the people who have supported us, there’s no way we could even still be standing, let alone try to have enough confidence to continue,” Turnbough said.

The shop is open from 5-8 p.m. Friday through Sunday. For information, visit the shop’s website, singersicecream.com.
