Silver Spoon Ice Cream and Sweets is coming soon to House Springs.
The shop will open at 22 Gravois Station Road, taking the place of another ice cream shop, Singers Ice Cream, which recently announced it will be moving to Wildwood.
David Staral, who owns Silver Spoon Ice Cream, said the shop will most likely open in late March or early April after renovations are made to the interior space.
Staral said the House Springs location will be the fifth Silver Spoon Ice Cream shop in the St. Louis area.
Staral opened his first Silver Spoon ice cream shop in Silver Lake, Wis., four years ago. He sold it and opened three other stores in the past two years, one in Wildwood (at 17225 New College Ave.), one in Eureka (at 98 Legends Parkway) and one in Chesterfield (at 103 Chesterfield Towne Center).
Another Silver Spoon shop will open Friday, Jan. 17, in Washington (at 110 W. Main St.), Staral said.
“We are excited to open our first location in Jefferson County,” Staral said. “We have a lot of customers from that area – House Springs, High Ridge and Cedar Hill – who come up to our shop in Eureka. For two years, since we opened the Eureka location, they keep asking for a location that’s closer to them.”
Staral said the House Springs ice cream shop will serve similar items to the other Silver Spoons, including ice cream, shakes, malts, sundaes and candy.
“We scoop all of our ice cream in front of our customers, so we have to add some equipment and modify some things (at the new location) and do some aesthetic changes with paint and that sort of thing,” Staral said. “We have the best ice cream on Earth, so I think, with our unique brand and our experience, (the shop) becomes a destination for a lot of people. Regardless of where we open, people love trying our ice cream and coming and visiting.”
The House Springs location will be open year-round, with shorter hours in the winter and longer hours in the summer.
Staral said he will most likely hire 10-12 workers for the new shop once it becomes fully operational.
