Pirate Pete’s Family Adventures opened Wednesday, April 6, in Pevely.
The amusement center is housed in a 24,000-square-foot building at the front of the property where the Pevely Flea Market used to operate at 8773 Commercial Blvd. (Hwy. 61-67).
“We have an 18-hole miniature golf course,” said co-owner Tony Dunn, 50, of Festus. “We have inflatables, including a bounce house and two inflatable obstacle courses. We have two Nerf Wars arena sections. We have an arcade section and selfie rooms to take photos of yourself with different backgrounds.
“There are three small party rooms, and there’s space large enough for corporate events.”
Dunn said he also owns Cactus Pete’s Family Fun Center, 1045 Imperial Main St., an amusement center that offers an arcade, laser tag and party rooms.
“Cactus Jack’s has been open for four and a half years,” he said. “It will remain open along with Pirate Pete’s.”
Tabitha Schroeder, the business’s party coordinator, said Pirate Pete’s will offer special events.
“We’ll have theme night parties,” she said. “The first two we have coming are a Cardinal Night in a couple of weeks and an ‘80s Night in May.”
Dunn said Pirate Pete’s is a great place to take the kids to play.
“For instance, everybody’s got Nerf guns, but you don’t have space in your home,” he said. “Mom’s trying to cook dinner and gets shot in the head.”
Dunn said Pirate Pete’s currently has a staff of 10 or so.
The establishment will offer a limited snack bar at the start, but a broader range of refreshments is planned, he said.
“We’ll have chips, candy bars and soda,” he said. “Eventually, we’ll sell liquor.”
Like Cactus Pete’s, Pirate Pete’s should appeal to people of all ages, Dunn said.
“We get them under 5 and up to grandparents in their 80s playing,” he said.
Pirate Pete’s hours are 4-8 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 4-9 p.m. Fridays; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays; noon-7 p.m. Sundays.
“We’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays other than for private events,” Dunn said.
The other Pirate Pete’s co-owner is Jason Henderson of Washington, Mo.
