A new Mexican restaurant is coming to Pevely.

Las Brisas is expected to open the weekend of Feb. 8 at 8620 Daniel Dunklin Blvd.

“We don’t know exactly which day,” said Eduardo Ornelas, one of the Pevely restaurant owners. “We’re hoping next weekend, Friday or Saturday.”

Ornelas’ brothers, Gustavo and Hector, and their brother-in-law, Eduardo Salazar, also are owners.

The restaurant is part of Mexican restaurant chain with locations around southeast Missouri and will be the 10th location for that chain, Eduardo Ornelas said.

He said the restaurant will offer all kinds of tasty, authentic Mexican food, but he particularly recommends the Molcajete Brisas dish, which includes sliced cactus.

“They come with chicken, steak, chorizo or shrimp. They can choose one of the meats or everything. It also has onions, peppers, tomatoes, fresh cheese and a special sauce,” he said. “It’s a specialty.”

The menu also will include fajitas, enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos and tacos, as well as grilled dishes, vegetarian dishes, salads, soups and appetizers. The restaurant also will serve adult beverages.

“We’ve got a liquor license,” said Ornelas, who now lives in Pevely. “We’ll have margaritas, mixed drinks, beer.”

Las Brisas is the type of restaurant that should appeal to all ages, he said.

“It’s a family restaurant,” Ornelas said. “We’ve got good food and not high prices.

“You can come here to the restaurant and enjoy good food and margaritas. We try to take care of everybody in the town.”

He said the restaurant will have a staff of 10 and hiring has been completed. The owners are renting the building that houses the restaurant.

“We see a good location here,” Ornelas said. “We like the people here. Everyone is a nice person here in Pevely.”

In addition to seating inside, Las Brisas will offer a drive-through.

The restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
