It looks like negotiations are nearing completion for the sale of the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely to Josh Caroll, said current co-owners Ray and Sue Marler in a Dec. 13 written statement on the raceway’s website page.
The Marlers co-own the facility with professional racing driver Ken Schrader, and his wife, Ann.
“We are thrilled to share that an agreement has been reached with Josh Carroll for the purchase of Federated Auto Parts Raceway – I-55,” the Marlers said in the written statement. “While we’re still in the final stages of the process, we wanted to take a moment to express our excitement for the future under new ownership. We have no doubt that Josh will take the track to new heights, continuing its legacy and elevating it to the next level.”
Carroll, well known in auto racing circles, lives in Alton, Ill., according to his Facebook page.
Marler, when reached for comment, stressed that negotiations had not yet concluded, but made the following statement:
“The guy who wants to buy it is 43, and I’m 86, so I’m twice as old,” he said. “If we can get (the sale) completed, it will be time to retire.”
The Marlers also shared in their written statement that they enjoyed owning the raceway.
“For the past 29 years, we’ve had the privilege of living a dream we never thought possible. It’s been an incredible journey, full of highs and lows, twists and turns, and yes, a few bumps along the way,” they said. “But what an unforgettable ride it’s been. The friendships we’ve forged and the memories we’ve made will stay with us forever. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of Ken and Ann Schrader and our kids and grandkids, our amazing sponsors, our dedicated staff and, most importantly, the fans who have cheered us on from the stands.”
