Collectors in and around Hillsboro will now have a new antique spot in their backyard.
Clara & Grey Antique Market, 10814 Business 21, Suite B, in Hillsboro, held its grand opening Sept. 12.
A House Springs couple – Kassidy Sago, 28, and CJ Sago, 37 – are the owners.
Clara & Grey Antique Market is named after the couple’s two children, Clara, 2 and Greyson, 6.
“I thought it would be a cute and unique name,” Kassidy Sago said. “I feel like our kids are the inspiration, we want to do better for them and hopefully give them a business to pass down to them when they’re old enough.”
She said she decided to open the store because she and her husband have always enjoyed visiting antique shops and going thrifting.
“We started buying and selling on eBay like 10 years ago, and over time, we’ve just collected a lot of stuff,” she said.
Kassidy Sago said she and her husband have sold items at consignment shops in the past and always had a plan to one day open their own store.
“I was on Facebook and just saw the perfect little storefront, and we just decided to do it, very on a whim,” she said.
Kassidy Sago said the grand opening exceeded her expectations.
“It went really good, we were busy the entire day,” she said. “We were actually kind of surprised how much community support that we got from everyone in the community and other businesses.”
She said the market is home to 30 different local vendors who sell a wide variety of items including handmade body care products, antique toys, vintage décor and more.
Kassidy Sago said she has noticed that any items with ducks or geese on them are popular among customers.
As of Sept. 15, she said there were a few spots still open for vendors in the store.
“We actually are going to be expanding into the next suite over hopefully within the next month or two, and then we will be looking for new vendors to come over there with us,” she said.
The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
A ribbon cutting celebrating the opening will be sponsored by the Greater Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and was scheduled for Sept. 23.
