William Cecil “Bill” Stotler, 79, of Herculaneum died Sept. 6, 2019, at his home. Mr. Stotler was a 1958 graduate of Bonne Terre High School, and played basketball for Moberly Junior College and Flat River Junior College before graduating from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. He was a longtime teacher, coach and administrator for the Dunklin R-5 School District and retired as a Herculaneum High School athletic director and assistant principal. He refereed many volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball games in the region, worked many summers at the Teamsters Health Camp in Pevely, and was an active member at Good News Community Church of Festus. Born July 18, 1940, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of the late Nora (Dodson) and Henry Stotler.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara Sue (Thurman) Stotler of Herculaneum; two sons: Doug (Cathriel) Stotler of St. Charles and Darren (Cynthia) Stotler of St. Louis; two daughters: Dana (Todd) Pannett of Chesterfield and Diane (Michael) Kileen of Troy; and eight grandchildren: Rachel Stotler, Madeline (Jordan) Wynn, Molly Pannett, Sam Pannett, Kyle Stotler, Kailey Stotler, Evan Kileen and Nora Kileen.
He was preceded in death by an adoptive brother and sister.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Good News Community Church of Festus, followed by a funeral service officiated by the Rev. Jack King.
