William "Bill" L. Rayfield, 79, of Festus died Feb. 20, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Rayfield was a salesman who enjoyed talking, working on computers, Southern gospel music and spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. Born July 20, 1941, in St Louis, he was the son of the late Madge (Mooney) and Virgil Rayfield.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Wanda (Rumberg) Rayfield, whom he married Dec. 16, 1961, in Lesterville; a daughter: Annette (Frosty) Acre of Hillsboro; three grandchildren: Lee (Rebecca), Adam and Jordan (Lesalie) Acre; two great-grandchildren: Jacey and Rhett Acre; and numerous family members and friends.
He preceded in death by a son: William "Lee" Rayfield.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City, 107 N. Truman Blvd., in Crystal City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the church, officiated by pastors Dan Pitchers and Jimmie Turner. Burial will follow in the Sandy Baptist Church Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home, Festus.
