Todd C. Whitehead, 55, of Lamar died Sept. 8, 2019, at his home. Mr. Whitehead was a heavy equipment operator and lead man and worked at multiple landfills for 36 years, primarily with Prairie View Landfill. He was a nature enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing, searching for morels, collecting rocks and planting and saving trees.
Born Sept. 7, 1964, he was the son of Beverly (Cage) Whitehead of Hillsboro and the late William “Bill” Whitehead.
He is survived by his wife: Lea Ellen (Alden) Whitehead; four children: Chelsea (David) O’Shea, Katie (Russell Barnes) Rutledge, Dylan (Addison) Whitehead and Emmy Whitehead; and four grandchildren: Liam and Harper O’Shea, Ethan Rutledge and Calvin Carter.
He was preceded in death by four grandparents: Cliff and Muriel Cage and Wilbur and Lucy Whitehead; and a grandson: Adam Barnes.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today (Sept. 13) at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Forest Releaf of Missouri, 4168 Juniata St., Suite 1, St. Louis, 63116.
