Robert Lee Mason, 84, of Festus, formerly of Pevely, died June 12, 2019, at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. Mr. Mason was an Air Force veteran and the retired owner/operator of the Chow Mobile of St. Louis. He also worked at Davis Catering in St. Louis. He was a member, Sunday school teacher and greeter at Herculaneum-Pevely Baptist Church. His enjoyed fishing and wood carving. Born Feb. 23, 1935, in Sikeston, he was the son of the late Mary Jane (Reagan) and Lee Rody Mason.
He is survived by his wife: Sue (Venable) Mason; two sons: Michael (Carol) Mason of St. Louis County and Mark (Stephanie) Mason of Bedford, Ind.; three grandchildren: Olivia Shirley of Evansville, Ind., Abby Mason of St. Peters and Annie Mason of St. Peters; and a special niece: Betty (the late Chuck) Bath of Shreveport, La.
He was preceded in death by one grandson: Ethan Shirley; three sisters: Hazel (the late Joe) Huff, Georgia Davis and Ellen (the late Arnold) McBride; and five brothers: Edgar (the late Louise) Davis, Walter (the late Wilma) Davis, Ray (the late Virginia) Davis, Cecil (the late Helen) Davis and Ditcher (the late Evelyn) Mason.
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Jeff Purvis. Burial with full military honors will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Herculaneum-Pevely Baptist Church Transportation Fund (for a new church bus). Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
