James W. Hamilton, 74, of Dittmer died July 1, 2023. Mr. Hamilton was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a longtime member of the High Ridge Elks. He coached his children in baseball, then watched his grandchildren’s games. He enjoyed going to casinos, fishing and poker. Born Sept. 6, 1948, in Cave City, Ark., he was the son of the late Betty (Hale) and W.C. Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife: Janet L. (Gullett) Hamilton; two sons: Brian (Katie) Hamilton and Shawn (Stacy) Hamilton; six grandchildren: Kylee (Patrick) Meyer, Raelynn (Daniel) Lohse and Jarrid (Savanna), Raechel, Sara and Kendyll Hamilton; three great-grandchildren: Harper and Beckham Hamilton and Korbin Meyer; his mother-in-law: Bonnie Duty; a sister: Mary Cobb; a brother-in-law: Glenn (Regina) Parrish; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a sister-in-law.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill, immediately followed by funeral services. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
