Lynn Ross Schomburg, 74, of Ballwin died Sept. 11, 2020, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Schomburg, a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army, was retired from Temperature Control Systems, having also worked at LEMCO Engineering. He was known as a very giving person who loved volunteering his time to assist with various group homes and food pantries in the area. He also hosted hospitality rooms in the Dunklin R-5 School District for 20 years and more recently also at Maryville University wrestling events. He was also involved with his grandchildren’s sports and school events. Born May 23, 1946, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Esther (Hanneman) and Ronald C. Schomburg. He grew up in Walnut Park and attended Salvator United Church of Christ Evangelical, where he was confirmed by the Rev. Prell and where his father served as a deacon and his mother was church secretary.
He is survived by his wife: Jo Ann (Beckett) Schomburg; a daughter: Dana (Greg) Williams-Kreith of O’Fallon; and three grandchildren: Tyler, Evan and Rachel Kreith.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Laurel Ann Ziener.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the funeral home, officiated by Ben Cordray. Burial with full military honors will take place in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. A funeral luncheon will immediately follow at Elks Lodge 1721 in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
