Leon Williams, 85, of High Ridge died Aug. 26, 2019. Mr. Williams grew up on his family’s farm, where he developed his love of nature and enjoyed fishing, hunting and archery. He was an accomplished artist in drawing, singing and poetry, and enjoyed playing with and entertaining his grandchildren. Born Sept. 16, 1933, in Cardwell, he was the son of the late Nina (LaFerney) and Bailey Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Patsy (Goatley) Williams; a daughter: Elizabeth (Robert) Stout; four granddaughters: Laurie (Guy) Brimmer, Shanna McClarney, Rachel McClarney and Roxanne McClarney; three siblings: Estelle Harrison, Juanita Loftin and Jerry Williams; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Julie Williams; and four brothers: Carlis Williams, Charles Williams, Doyle Williams and Melvin Williams.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Oak Forest Church of Christ, 2066 County Road 105, in Alton. Burial is in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Campus Box 8111, 660 South Euclid Ave., St. Louis 63110-1010. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
