Joshua David Zaitz, 21, of Festus died July 27, 2019, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Zaitz was a 2016 graduate of Festus High School and was working as a porter for Ameren. He was a member of IBEW Local 1439, Masonic Lodge 551 (Pendleton), Moolah Shriners and was second vice president ECMO Shriners Club in Bonne Terre. He was a member of Heart of the Apostle Fellowship Church in Herculaneum. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, especially duck, and liked to go on boat rides and ride four-wheelers. Most of all, though, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Born Nov. 11, 1997, in Crystal City, he was the son of Shannon (Lee) and Steven M. Zaitz Sr.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister: Stefanie (Michael) Striker of Crystal City; his grandparents: Robert and Rhonda Lee and Anita Zaitz; his great-grandmother: Betty Rode; two uncles: Robert (Gayle) Lee and Tony (Brenda) Zaitz; an aunt: Nicole (Michael) Schmitt; his cousins: Dustin (Jenny) Schmitt, Mackenzie Schmitt, Laurin Zaitz, Lindsi Zaitz, Cole Lee and Chase Lee; and numerous other friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Steven M. Zaitz Jr.; his grandfather: William Zaitz; his great-grandparents: Lula and Robert Lee, Raymond Rode and Ellene Dioris.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Dr., in Festus. Masonic rites and a Shriners service will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a celebration of life officiated by Pastor Terry Crank.
