Helen Ione Deems, 96, of Herculaneum died July 14, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus. Mrs. Deems was a member of Fairview Christian Church. She loved Florida, traveling, the beach, Cardinals baseball and fishing. Born Sept. 13, 1925, in Doniphan, she was the daughter of the late Hazel I. (Simon) and Rosco Emmons.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Bobbie Deems.
She is survived by a son: Carl Deems of Denham Springs, La.; a daughter: Janet (James) Burgert of Herculaneum; three grandchildren: Alisha (Ryan) Conley, Beth (Mike) Wall and Austin (Molly) Burgert; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Gilbert Emmons; a daughter-in-law: Timna Deems; and a granddaughter: Yvonne Deems.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Norm Bell. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Homes.
