Gerald Ray “Jerry” McCurdy, 85, of De Soto died Aug. 23, 2019, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. McCurdy was a supervisor with AT&T. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a fourth-degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1185. Born April 2, 1934, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Mary Isabelle (Bakewell) and Verna “Ray” McCurdy.
He is survived by his wife: Joan (Bequette) McCurdy of De Soto; two children: Karen Marie McCurdy of Statesboro, Ga., and Karl Ray McCurdy of Bowling Green; a former daughter-in-law: Cherie McCurdy; a former son-in-law: Ron Wright; two siblings: Bev (David) Ringling of De Soto and Tom (Ann) McCurdy of Florissant; a brother-in-law: Cleo Pigg of De Soto; two grandchildren: Gennevieve Wright and Douglas (Amy) McCurdy; three great-grandchildren: Lucas, Adalyn and Carter; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Fern Pigg; and a brother: Doug McCurdy.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Memorials may be made to the Families of Calvary Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, P.O. Box 222, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
