Eugene L. “Gene” Gerard, 91, of Bloomsdale died Sept. 3, 2019, in St. Louis. Mr. Gerard was a pipefitter and a member of IUOE Local 148. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Bloomsdale. Born March 3, 1928, in Ste. Genevieve, he was the son of the late Mary Philomena (Carron) and Eugene A. Gerard. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Norma Jean (Bayer) Gerard.
He is survived by two sons: Ted (Sue) Gerard of St. Louis and John (Connie) Gerard of St. Louis; five daughters: Kathleen Stock of St. Louis, Paula (Dan) Stoverink of Lake St. Louis, Beth (Dave) Gibson of Lee’s Summit, Maria (Roger) Batten of Rochester, Ill., and Cecilia (Rod) Lause of St. Louis; a sister: Mary Ann Basler; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; dear friend Pearl Simms; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Theodore Gerard.
A funeral service was held Sept. 6 at St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale. Burial was in the St. Agnes Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Birthright St. Louis or Heiffer International. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home in south St. Louis County.
