Eugene L. “Gene” Brock, 94, of Hillsboro died June 8, 2019, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mr. Brock was a retired carman and welder for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Luckey Baptist Church. Born Feb. 24, 1925, in Wyatt, he was the son of the late Della (Porter) and James Franklin Brock.
He is survived by his wife: Iris A. (Alexander) Brock; two children: Judith (Nick) Zoph of Nashville, Tenn., and Jackie (Pam) Brock of De Soto; two sons-in-law: Flavie Buster of Walles Mines and Chuck Johnson of Festus; eight stepchildren and their families; a brother: Jack Brock of Sikeston; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three daughters: Eugenia Buster, Joyce (the late Dave) Courtaway and Madonna Johnson; a son: Alvie (Sharon) Brock; a sister: Levada Brown; and nine brothers: Jess Brock, Lemon Brock, Bill Brock, C.J. Brock, Lee Brock, Tom Brock, Marshall Brock, Ray Brock and Clifford Brock.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at the funeral home, officiated by Dennis Murphy. Burial is in the Luckey Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
