Edward Joseph Kline Jr., 93, of Festus died Sept. 14, 2019, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Kline was a retired union carpenter with Local 2214 and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City. He also was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1230, Festus/Crystal City Conservation Club, Elks Lodge1721, Amvets Post 42 and Eagles Aerie 4341. He was born June 10, 1926, in Kaskaskia, Ill., the son of the late Blanche E. (Rayoum) and Edward Kline Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Alice (Buchheit) Kline; three daughters: Wanda Kline Hampton of St. Charles, Judith (Edward) Bohnert of Perryville and Ruth (the late Franklin) Aubuchon of Bloomsdale; a son: Ronald E. Kline of Festus; a sister: Anna Mae Kline of Uniontown; a brother: Wilbert “Sonny” Kline of Perryville; 10 grandchildren: Michael Hampton, Angela Hampton, Jacqueline Hampton, Matthew Hampton, Jennifer Wesley, Joshua Aubuchon, Jeleana Aubuchon, Katie Aubuchon, Richard Ballard and Jessica Heinzman; and three great-grandchildren: Ayden Aubuchon, Noah Aubuchon and Wyatt Aubuchon.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Rosetta “Marie” Bohnert, Helen Ponder and Lillian Kline.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Father Mathew Cheruparambil. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
