Denise Cummiskey Dumas, 67, of Baltimore, Md., died June 30, 2019, in Baltimore. Ms. Dumas was a teacher at Connections School in Baltimore. A 1970 graduate of St. Pius X High School, she earned a master’s degree in history and elementary education from Brockport College. She volunteered at local animal shelters and enjoyed crocheting, music, Cardinals baseball and politics. Born May 31, 1952, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Schott0 and Thomas Cummiskey Sr.
She is survived by two children: Nathan Walsh of Rochester, N.Y., and Laura Parker of Baltimore, Md.; seven sisters: Barbara Foster of St. Charles, Susan (Richard) Davis of Sullivan, Debbie (Don) Schaberg of Houston, Texas, Maureen (Dan) Hewitt of Festus, Julia Underwood of Festus, Joan (Terraine) Casey of St. Louis and Mary Ackman of Festus; two brothers: Thomas (Patricia) Cummiskey Jr. and Pat (Alicia) Cummiskey, both of Festus; three grandchildren: Lillian Evans of Baltimore, Jacob Fox of Lima, N.Y., and Derek Studley of Rochester, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three siblings: Stephanie Stewart, Elizabeth Cummiskey and James Cummiskey.
Ms. Dumas chose to be cremated. A memorial service was held July 4 in Baltimore. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
