Billy Joe Harrison, 80, of Barnhart died June 10, 2019, at Festus Manor Nursing Center. Mr. Harrison was a Coast Guard veteran. He was retired from McCarthy Brothers Construction in St. Louis, where he worked as a carpenter. He was also a 50-year member of the Carpenter and Joiners Union, and he attended Windsor Baptist Church in Imperial. Born Dec. 31, 1938, in Lilbourn, he was the son of the late Clorene “Clo” (Morris) and Ronald A. Harrison Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Rhonda (Skelton) Harrison; two sons: Steven Dennis Mitchell of Lemay and Timothy Lynn (Laurie) Mitchell of Mission Viejo, Calif.; one daughter: Rebecca Sue (Rick) White of Blackwell; two brothers: Ronald A. (the late Joy) Harrison Jr. of Chicago, Ill., and Charles S. Harrison of Hillsboro; two sisters: Jerry D. (Robert) Riggs of Barnhart and Minnie (James) Schultz of Barnhart; eight grandchildren: Bryan, Dana, Tammy, Michelle, Casey, Nathan, Valerie and Shannon; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Joan Harrison of Festus; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Robert E. Harrison; and two sisters: Jacqueline (the late Leroy) Sawyer and Joy Marie (the late Gerald) Becker.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Jim Waymire. Burial will be in St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be made to Living Springs Camp, 723 Horine Road, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
