Alan Dale Whitter, 60, of Festus died Aug. 22, 2019. Mr. Whitter was a volunteer firefighter with the Festus Fire Department for 12 years and the Hematite Fire Protection District for eight years. He also was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 482. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandson, Tyler. He also liked Civil War re-enactments, remodeling antique cars and building model cars. He was known for his sense of humor. Born June 8, 1959, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late Homer Dale and Earline (Scott) Whitter.
He is survived by his wife: Diana (Bowyer) Whitter of Festus; two sons: Eric (Sarah Dalton) Whitter of Pevely and Carl (Mary Nance) Whitter of Festus; three brothers: Mike (Becky) Whitter of De Soto, Scott Whitter of Lexington, Ky., Jeff (Susan) Whitter of Leadwood; a sister: Monica (Eric Clemons) of Festus; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Carla Whitter.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3551 Hwy. 61, in Festus. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
