COLUMBIA — Forty-six-year-old Edward Brown Jr. of Columbia was shot and killed at a home on Triple Crown Drive in Columbia Wednesday night. As a result of the investigation, police said a 15-year-old was detained.
On Wednesday night, Columbia Police Department spokesperson Colin Imhoff told KOMU 8 News all parties involved have been detained, and there is no active threat to the public.
KOMU 8 News saw about half a dozen police vehicles at the scene around 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police said they had to wait to obtain a search warrant until detectives could enter the home the deceased man was in. Crime scene investigators arrived at the scene just before 8:30 p.m. Imhoff said CPD had obtained a search warrant from a judge at that point, and detectives were inside the house investigating.
Police officers and a civilian removed a body from the house shortly before 10 p.m., police said.
Earlier Wednesday evening, the Police Department made a post on X asking people to avoid the area.
