Arnold Police are searching for a black male who allegedly smashed a window on a car at Ferd B. Lang Park, took a purse out of it and then used a credit card from the purse to purchase more than $1,500 in items at the Walmart Supercenter in Arnold. The incident happened Oct. 13, authorities reported.
At about 5:50 p.m., a woman called police to the dog park at Ferd B. Lang Park, 1824 Old Lemay Ferry Road, to report that her 2015 Chevrolet Spark had been broken into and her purse was stolen. She said a large white SUV had parked next to her car, blocking the view of her vehicle, and when the SUV drove away, she saw her passenger side window was shattered, the report said.
The woman’s purse, which contained credit cards and other items, was taken from the car. The stolen items were valued at $122.50, the report said.
The woman called the credit card company, and she was told at about 6 p.m. her card was used at Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave., to purchase three Visa gift cards valued at $1,500. The total purchase was for $1514.82, the report said.
Surveillance footage allegedly showed a black man wearing black clothes and white shoes using the woman’s credit card, but as of Oct. 26, he had not been located, Arnold Police Lt. Tom Leassner said.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Arnold Police at 636-269-3204.
