A 19-year-old Barnhart woman and a 41-year-old Imperial man were arrested after they allegedly were found in a pickup that had been reported stolen in St. Francois County. The pickup was found outside the Dollar General, 7030 Hwy. 61-67, in Barnhart, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 10:40 a.m. July 16, a deputy located the gold 1976 Chevrolet Cheyenne in the parking lot and reportedly found the man sitting in the driver’s seat. The woman reportedly was with the man and came out of the store moments later, the report said.
Both were arrested and taken to Jefferson County Jail, where they were booked and released pending application for warrants, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office will seek a charge of first-degree tampering against the man and a charge of second-degree tampering against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
