Arnold Police arrested a 23-year-old St. Louis County man a short time after he allegedly choked his girlfriend outside the Arnold Police Station. The man was found in the parking lot of the Pentecostal Lighthouse Tabernacle Church, 101 Industrial Drive, just south of the Police Station, 2101 Jeffco Blvd., and arrested, Arnold Police reported.
The victim, a 26-year-old Oakville woman, reported the alleged assault at about 5:30 p.m. Aug. 22. She told police she was driving with her boyfriend in the vehicle and the two began to argue. She said her boyfriend allegedly threatened to punch her in the face if she went to the Police Station, but she drove there anyway because she was afraid, the report said.
The woman said after she parked, the man allegedly grabbed her by the arm and eventually began to choke her before she got away and entered the Police Station. The woman had bruises on her right arm and around her neck, police reported.
The man ran away from the car, but he was found at the nearby church. He allegedly had the woman’s cell phone when police arrested him, the report said.
He was booked, held for evaluation and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for third-degree assault, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
He said investigators do not know what the two were arguing about or why the woman drove to the Arnold Police Station. He also said he did not know where the two were headed when the argument started.
