The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent theft of a rifle during a break-in at an Imperial pawn shop. The incident occurred Aug. 18 at Mike’s Pawn Shop, 923 Hwy. 61-67, a report said.

At 12:37 a.m., the investigator responded to an alarm going off at the business. A side door was found open, according to the report.

The deputy checked out the building with a police dog but did not find anyone at the scene. The victim arrived and discovered a 9 mm rifle missing and the building’s rear door damaged.

The rifle’s estimated value was $500, the report said.

Cpl. Matthew Moore of the Sheriff’s Office said on Thursday (Aug. 31) that the rifled had not been recovered and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
