A trailer loaded with lawn care equipment recently was stolen from Baker Landscaping & Concrete, 5215 Old Hwy. 21, in Imperial. However, the stolen items, which were valued at $47,465, were recovered and returned to the owner, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported.

The theft happened the morning of Nov. 25, when someone stole the large cargo trailer filled with equipment from the business parking lot. The victim said a large flatbed truck entered the business parking lot at about 5:20 a.m. and left about 5:34 a.m. with the trailer, the report said.

Stolen items included a 2018 Wells Cargo trailer, three riding lawn mowers, four blowers and more. Later, deputies found the trailer at a residence in the 11300 block of Pounds Road in the Festus area, as well as the truck observed hauling away the trailer, according to the report.

As of Dec. 10, attempts to locate the homeowner had not been successful, the report said. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
