Eureka Police are investigating the theft of a pickup while it was parked outside the Valvoline Instant Oil Change, 555 W. Fifth St. The pickup belongs to an employee who said he believed the pickup was locked, but he also only had one of the two sets of keys for it, police reported.
The victim, a 25-year-old Pacific man, said he parked his 2006 Ford F-250 outside the oil change business the night of Jan. 17 and when he returned to the business at about 9:30 a.m. Jan. 18, it was gone, the report said.
Police said a Flock license-plate reading camera recorded a pickup driving toward Valvoline at about 11:55 p.m. Jan. 17. Investigators also said at about 12:09 a.m. Jan. 18 the pickup from the Flock camera footage was seen in surveillance video next to the stolen F-250, according to the report.
Surveillance does not show when the two pickups were driven from the parking lot. The stolen F-250 is worth approximately $7,000, the report said.
As of Jan. 29, the pickup had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
