A 32-year-old Sullivan man, a 33-year-old St. John woman and a 31-year-old Villa Ridge man were arrested in connection with an investigation into stolen motorcycles, Eureka Police reported.
After being notified about multiple stolen motorcycles in the area, Eureka Police officers spotted a 2005 Honda CVR 600 and a 2015 Kawasaki at 11:24 a.m. Oct. 10 parked outside the Super 8 by Wyndham hotel, 1733 West Fifth St.
The officers checked the plates in the computer system, and the Honda had been reported stolen. The Kawasaki’s plates were not registered in the system, police reported.
Officers contacted an employee at the hotel’s front desk to ask about the motorcycles and were told the three people had checked in the night before. The Franklin County Drug Task Force was called to assist, and authorities went to the trio’s room, where they allegedly discovered firearms and a large amount of a crystal-like substance. All three were arrested and transported to the Police Station, where they were booked and held, the report said.
While at the station, the woman allegedly was found with two bags containing a crystal-like substance. A review of hotel surveillance video showed the Sullivan man and woman had arrived on the motorcycle that was reported stolen and were allegedly in possession of the crystal-like substance at the hotel.
Pending lab results, Eureka Police will seek charges for possessing a controlled substance and receiving stolen property against the Sullivan man, and for possession of controlled substance against the St. John woman, Capt. David Wilson said.
The Villa Ridge man was turned over to another agency on an outstanding warrant, the report said.
