A refrigerator, a dishwasher and a microwave recently were stolen from a home under construction in the 100 block of Timber Creek Road in Imperial. The theft happened between 6:15 p.m. April 28 and 6 a.m. April 29, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

It looked like someone entered the home through an unsecured garage door and stole the appliances. All three of the appliances were slate-colored. In all, they were valued at $2,879, the report said.

It is the latest in a string of recent thefts from home construction sites.

“With the housing market we are in now and with so much new construction, it is probable that there has been an increase (in those kinds of thefts),” Capt. Gary Higginbotham said May 5.

He said today (May 9) that the stolen appliances had not been recovered and that there were no suspects or arrests. Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
