A 25-year-old Imperial man was arrested in connection with the theft of a motorcycle and a variety of other items from a home in the 4000 block of East Center Drive in Imperial. In all, the stolen items were valued at $2,150, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The theft occurred between Oct. 23 and Oct. 27, when someone apparently got into the home through a rear sliding door. Stolen items included a Kawasaki motorcycle, an Evinrude outboard motor, a Budweiser sign, a deer stand, a micrometer, a sliding door, a dart board, a spreader, two light fixtures and a feeder, the report said.
The victim told authorities he was going to a site on West Center Drive in Imperial to confront the suspect, and an investigator arrived at the scene, where the suspect allegedly admitted to breaking into the home. However, the man said he “did not remember stealing the items because he blacked out from Xanax and alcohol use,” according to the report.
The suspect led the investigator to a place behind the home where the outboard motor was found and to a nearby wooded where the motorcycle were recovered. The other stolen items were found in or just outside the home, the report said.
The suspect was arrested, booked and released pending application for warrants, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
