Power lines down in Cedar Hill, trapping driver

Cedar Hill firefighters rescued a person trapped in a vehicle after a tractor-trailer knocked down power lines.

The Cedar Hill Fire Protection District reported on its Facebook page that a person who was trapped in a vehicle on Hwy. 30 this afternoon (July 10) was safely rescued. The person was trapped after a tractor-trailer carrying an oversized load hit and knocked down power lines.

Cedar Hill Fire reported the accident at about noon, saying “Highway 30 at Ficken Road will be closed for an extended period of time.”

The victim was rescued at about 12:50 p.m., after Ameren isolated the power to the lines, allowing the person to be extracted from the vehicle, the Facebook post said.

The accident left 1,146 customers without power, and Ameren estimated that power would be restored in the area at about 2 p.m., an Ameren spokeswoman said.
