A 34-year-old Festus man has been arrested for allegedly threatening a group of people, including a child, with a knife. The incident happened about 6:40 p.m. Nov. 9 in the 800 block of Delmar Avenue, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
“We responded to a call of a fight in progress,” Lewis said. “Witnesses said (the suspect) caused a disturbance and pulled a knife on a group of people. There were five people threatened, including a 4-year-old boy (with four adults).”
After that, one of the victims reportedly pulled out a pistol and “told the suspect to back up,” Lewis said.
“The suspect threw down the knife and left,” Lewis said. “We arrested the suspect a short time later on Vine Street. Officers saw he matched the description. A victim identified him as the suspect at the station.”
The suspect was booked and released pending application for warrants.
“We are seeking second-degree assault charges,” Lewis said Nov. 12.
