A 32-year-old Villa Ridge woman was arrested for alleged drug possession after she reportedly stole shirts and jewelry from Dickey Bub Farm and Home, 100 Hilltop Village Center Drive in Eureka. The incident occurred Oct. 17, Eureka Police reported.
Police were called to the store at 12:10 p.m. by an employee who suspected the woman had shoplifted. The woman was found in the store’s parking lot outside a Toyota Tacoma, police reported.
When officers approached the pickup, the woman tried to walk away. However, officers caught up with her and asked if she had taken anything from the store. The woman said she did not take anything, the report said.
The employee told police she saw the woman enter the store fitting room with numerous items and then come out and hang a shirt up on a rack. The employee said she found four anti-theft devices in the front pocket of the shirt, according to the report.
When police searched the pickup, they allegedly found four shirts with holes where the devices would have been, and the woman allegedly said the shirts did come from the store. In addition, the woman was wearing a silver and a copper chain that she allegedly took from the store, the report said.
The woman allegedly told police she did take the jewelry, but she denied stealing the shirts, police reported.
Police also allegedly found white capsules containing a white powdery substance along with a syringe in the pickup, the report said.
The woman was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Capt. David Wilson said.
He also said police will seek a stealing charge against her through the Eureka Municipal Court.
