Pevely Police are looking for a car that was stolen from outside a home in the 800 block of Cha Bern Drive. Not long after the car was stolen on Dec. 31, an officer spotted the vehicle and chased it, but eventually stopped the pursuit, and the suspect got away, Capt. Larry Miller said.

The theft happened about 3:35 a.m. The victim, a 55-year-old woman, said her blue 2017 Kia Forte was unlocked and running when it was stolen from her driveway while she returned to her house for her lunch. She said she came back out of the house and saw the car being driven away with two other vehicles following it at a high rate of speed, Pevely Police reported.

An officer who was canvassing the area saw the stolen vehicle, along with a gray Infiniti QX4 and a black Toyota sedan, leaving the Ashton Village Apartments along Pevely Square Drive. All three vehicles failed to stop for the officer and the suspects continued to northbound I-55, where the officer ended the pursuit for safety reasons, Miller reported.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Pevely Police at 636-475-4498.
