Deanna Marie Hite, 46, of Arnold has been charged with two felonies for allegedly stabbing a 32-year-old Arnold man in the back. At the time, the two were living together on Weedel Drive, Arnold Police reported.

Hite has been charged with first-degree domestic assault, a class A felony punishable by 10 to 30 years or life in prison, and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony that carries a penalty of three to 15 years in prison.

As of Jan. 3, she was being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.

Arnold Police were called at about 12:20 a.m. Dec. 22 to the couple’s home because of a physical disturbance. When officers arrived, the two were outside the home, and the man was being treated by Rock Township Ambulance personnel. The man had a 2-inch laceration about 3 inches deep near the center of his back and to the right of his spine, the probable-cause statement in the case said.

According to the investigation, Hite returned home from work and discovered the man was trying to move out. She allegedly stabbed him in the back with a large kitchen knife when he tried to leave a bedroom, the report said.

The alleged victim locked himself in a bathroom, and Hite allegedly stabbed the door as he called 911. The man eventually left the bathroom, and Hite chased him out of the house, according to the report.

The man was transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury, Arnold Police reported.

Hite reportedly told investigators she had been arguing with the man about his alleged drug use. She also said the man had assaulted her in the past, according to the report.

She told police that the man had threatened her during their argument, so she got the kitchen knife. She also said the man had pushed her and was holding her on a bed when she stabbed him, but because of the man’s wound, investigators believe she stabbed him from behind while he was trying to leave the room, the report said.
