A 57-year-old Arnold man and a 38-year-old House Springs woman were arrested for alleged possession of drugs after they were stopped for reportedly stealing merchandise at the Walmart Supercenter, 2201 Michigan Ave, in Arnold. The incident happened at 7:58 p.m. June 14, Arnold Police reported.
Store loss prevention personnel stopped the pair because they suspected the woman was trying to steal $140 worth of clothing and other items without paying for them. When officers arrived at the store, the woman initially provided a false name, but her true identity was revealed when officers used a mobile fingerprint scanner and discovered the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office wanted her for an alleged drug violation, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office also wanted the man for allegedly driving with a revoked license, and when he was searched, the officer allegedly found methamphetamine in his pants pocket. The two were arrested and taken to the Police Station, where officers allegedly found heroin in the woman’s purse. Both the suspects were booked and held for the Sheriff’s Office, according to the report.
Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the two through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
