The 2019 Jefferson County Rodeo has been rescheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7.
It had been scheduled for last weekend but was postponed because of weather concerns.
The Rodeo will be held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21, in Hillsboro.
“There should not be any alterations,” said Kelly Fortel, office manager of the Hillsboro Community Civic Club, which sponsors the event. “The same events that had been planned for this weekend will be held Sept. 6-7.”
The rodeo will includes bronc riding, bull riding and barrel racing, along with other competitions and entertainment. Live bands also are scheduled to perform.
Civic Club officials decided June 4 to scrap the event based on weather predictions that called for a 100-percent chance of rain June 7 and a 90-percent chance of rain June 8, Fortel said.
Also, the rodeo company staging the event, Wooten Rodeo Co. of Glen Allen, had concerns about riders pulling out because of the expected wet conditions, she said,
Anyone who already purchased tickets for the Rodeo that was supposed to be held last weekend may use them for the September event. Or, they may be refunded at the box office, Fortel said.
