Crystal City facilities are closed to the public because of the coronavirus.
The closure, which took effect Tuesday (March 24), affects City Hall, the Police Department, the Public Works Department, the Crystal City Public Library and restrooms and pavilions at city parks.
“This is being done in order to minimize social contact among the general public and city staff to ensure the continued delivery of service to residents,” said a Tuesday announcement, which was signed by City Administrator Jason Eisenbeis and Mayor Tom Schilly.
The announcement stated that except for the Police Department, staff and hours in all city departments will be split into shifts, and that all offices except for the Police Department will be closed on Fridays until further notice.
Residents can use a night deposit box at City Hall for utility and court payments, which also can be made through the city’s website, by telephone and mail.
A telephone will be available between the outside and inside doors at City Hall that can be used to contact the police dispatcher.
Building inspections, occupancy permits and other licenses issued by the city will be by appointment; call 636-231-2905 for information.
While trash service will remain on the same schedule, bulk pickups and yard waste will not be collected until further notice, the announcement said.
The library continues to offer curbside delivery of books from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
