A Bonne Terre man and a Park Hills woman were seriously injured Sunday (June 6) in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV at Hwy. B and Column Drive west of Hillsboro, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 1:47 p.m., Benjamin D. Sparkman, 33, of Bonne Terre was riding a 2008 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle south on the highway, and Richard A. Sauget, 18, of Sauget, Ill., in a 2003 Honda Pilot, tried to turn onto the highway from westbound Column Drive but pulled into the path of the bike, and the front of the motorcycle struck the front right side of the SUV. After the collision, the bike was knocked to the right and began overturning, ejecting Sparkman and a passenger on the motorcycle – Danielle J. Riddick, 33, of Park Hills, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Sauget.
Both Sparkman and Riddick were taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
Sparkman was transferred to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Thursday afternoon (June 10), a hospital spokesman said.
However, the hospital had no information about Riddick, the spokesman said.
Sauget was wearing a seat belt, and Sparkman and Riddick were not wearing helmets, the patrol reported.
The motorcycle was totaled, and the SUV had minor damage, the report said.
