Jacob A. Grotegeers, 23, and Richard E. Mydlo, 77, both of House Springs, died Thursday (July 28) following a three-vehicle accident on Hwy. 30 at Dillon Road in High Ridge, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 2:40 p.m., Grotegeers was driving a 2005 Ford Ranger in Lane 2 of eastbound Hwy. 30 and while trying to change lanes, the left rear of the pickup struck the right front of another pickup, which was in Lane 1 of eastbound Hwy. 30, the report said.
After the collision, the Ranger traveled across the grass median and overturned and while overturned, traveled into the path and struck a westbound 1999 Plymouth Prowler, according to the report.
Mydlo was driving the Prowler.
Both he and Grotegeers were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where they were pronounced dead – Mydlo at 3:48 p.m. and Grotegeers at 5:01 p.m., the report said.
Ron E. Moore, 54, of Dittmer was driving the other eastbound pickup, a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado. No injuries were reported for him.
All three drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Ranger and Prowler were totaled, and the Silverado sustained minor damage, the report said.
Traffic was snarled in the area for hours following the accident.
