A St. Louis man was killed Friday evening (Oct. 22) in a traffic accident involving a scooter, a car and big rig on I-55 at the 181 mile marker north of the Pevely exit, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7:35 p.m., Dante R. Trice, 54, of St. Louis was riding a 2014 Vance Cali Classic 50 scooter south on the interstate, and Timothy G. Hearst, 41, of Pevely, driving a southbound 2018 Chevrolet Cruze, reportedly struck the back of the scooter, and Trice was thrown off it. Then, a 2019 Peterbilt big rig struck Trice, the report said.
Christopher J. Nail, 54, of House Springs was driving the big rig. No injuries were reported for him or for Hearst.
Trice was pronounced dead at the scene by Rock Township Ambulance personnel.
He was wearing a helmet, and Hearst and Nail were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The scooter was totaled, the car was moderately damaged and the big rig had no damage, the report said.
