A St. Louis man was hurt Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 10) in a two-vehicle accident on I-55 south of Reavis Barracks Road in St. Louis County that also involved a High Ridge man, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:22 p.m., Almir Efendic, 26, of St. Louis was driving a 2008 Jeep Liberty south on the interstate and while he was changing lanes, the front of the vehicle struck the rear of a southbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. Then, the Jeep continued across the interstate and ran off the left side of the road, where it struck a concrete median barrier and overturned, the report said.
Joseph W. Brockes, 36, of High Ridge was driving the Silverado. No injuries were reported for him.
However, Efendic was moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Efendic was not wearing a seat belt, and Brockes was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Jeep was totaled, and the Silverado had minor damaged, the report said.
